Making valuable, invisible products

Books, films and other entertainment always portray a future where seemingly nobody works, and all the common tasks are fully automated. Yet, as technology advances, our lives only seem to get more complex with a multitude of tools being added to the marketplace everyday.

There is hope out there, for pioneers willing to take on a change in the way they measure success. Imagine if we flip the common goal of increasing user engagement to decreasing it. If a product can continue to deliver value automatically, hands-off, After all, who wouldn't want to pay for that? We have automated many tasks, or at least made things easier. However, when it comes to digital output, things have only grown more complex.

It may seem counter-intuitive, after all, who in their right mind would want to reduce user engagement for their product? but if a product continues to deliver value to users while reducing the time they need to maintain or manage the contents, who wouldn't pay for that?

It's not an easy task, and won't happen all at once, but if businesses start looking at how to automate common tasks for their users, especially with the advent of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning models like Chat GPT - I would say now is a better time than ever to start looking at how your product can become the invisible hero to the users.
